Ready-made plans for a full day out, including trips across the border to Czechia.

Zamek Książ + Palmiarnia (cały dzień)

📍 9 km 🚴 36 min🚗 14 min

Good for: everyone, an essential day out

A classic, tried-and-tested plan: a morning audio-guided tour of the castle (about 1.5 h) and optionally the underground section, then in the afternoon a walk to Palmiarnia (combined ticket) and the viewpoint over the Pełcznica gorge in Książański Park Krajobrazowy.

Hours / prices: Plan on at least 4–5 hours in total. Parking at Stado Ogierów.

UNESCO w jeden dzień: Świdnica + Krzeszów

📍 25 km 🚗 38 min

Good for: lovers of architecture and history

Kościół Pokoju and the cathedral in Świdnica in the morning, a stroll around the market square and ice cream for lunch, then in the afternoon the Cistercian Abbey in Krzeszów (about 30 km from Szczawno, with an extra 30–40 minutes' drive from Świdnica).

Hours / prices: Worth starting early in the morning to make it before the sites close at 17:00.

Sokołowsko i Góry Kamienne

📍 25 km 🚗 38 min

Good for: lovers of art, gentle walks

A morning stroll around Sokołowsko and coffee at Palmiarnia Café, then in the afternoon a short trek up Waligóra with a cake break at the Andrzejówka mountain hut.

Hours / prices: A good choice for a day without a car marathon — the distances here are small.

Rowerowy dzień: Szczawno – Trójgarb – Dzikowiec

📍 15 km 🚴 60 min🚗 23 min

Good for: experienced cyclists

A loop combining local cycling routes around Szczawno with a climb up Trójgarb and (optionally) Dzikowiec. A full day in the saddle, with breaks at viewpoints.

Hours / prices: Bikes can be hired in Wałbrzych or Jedlina.

Zimowy wypad: Rzeczka

📍 28 km 🚗 42 min

Good for: families and skiers

The nearest ski resort to Szczawno, in the Owl Mountains — 5 button lifts totalling about 2.5 km, floodlit runs, equipment rental and a ski school.

Hours / prices: Snow conditions are usually good from December to March, parking right by the slope.

📍 Rzeczka

Skalne Miasto Adršpach (Czechy)

📍 40 km 🚗 60 min

Good for: families and lovers of dramatic rock formations

One of the most beautiful places in Czechia — giant rock formations, narrow passages and a turquoise pool. A well-marked route, suitable for families with children.

Hours / prices: Open daily 8:00–18:00. Worth booking tickets online in advance — they can sell out in season. Best to arrive early in the morning (8:00–9:00). Paid parking, card or koruna.

Teplické Skály (Czechy)

📍 45 km 🚗 68 min

Good for: those after quiet, fewer crowds than Adršpach

Less well known than Adršpach, but every bit as impressive — taller rocks, paths through ravines and forest.

Hours / prices: Open daily 8:00–17:00, tickets at the entrance. No food stalls along the route — worth bringing snacks and water.
